Bayeté Ross Smith (b. 1976, USA) is a photographer, multimedia artist and filmmaker from Harlem, New York. He began his career as a photojournalist with Knight Ridder, and has exhibited his work internationally – at the Smithsonian Institution (Washington D.C.), the San Francisco Arts Commission, the Brooklyn Museum, the Schomburg Center (New York), Unseen Photo Festival (Amsterdam), Goethe-Institute (Ghana), Zacheta National Gallery of Art (Poland) and elsewhere. His collaborative projects – Along The Way and Question Bridge: Black Males - were showcased at the Sundance Film Festival, The Los Angeles Film Festival and Sheffield Doc Fest. In 2015, Ross Smith was a recipient of the International Center of Photography Infinity Award for New Media. He is also a faculty member at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and is the Associate Program Director for the nonprofit organization, Kings Against Violence Initiative (KAVI).
